Jan Jagaran Samiti (JJS) is a non-profit organization based in Pamgarh block of Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. JJS works towards creating an equitable society by improving the living conditions of the poor and marginalised through community initiatives, participation and sensitization. The organization came into effect in 2007 with an aim to promote women empowerment and enhance the livelihood and literacy status of the community. JJS encourages women self-help groups and small scale farmers to participate in all interventions and livelihood related activities, subsequently redirecting them to contribute towards the development process of the community.
Vision: JJS seeks to build a progressive, self-reliant society by empowering women from the marginalized communities through various developmental initiatives.
Mission: To envision a society based on liberty of choices, equality and universal brotherhood, where every person can claim their right to education, health, livelihood and social security.
JJS has been working towards the issues of the marginalised with special focus on women, children and Dalits in the Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh. We have been promoting livelihood skills among the women in more than 40 villages in the district. We encourage a participatory approach through formation of village and children committees for advocacy issues on Government schemes like MGNREGA, Mid Day Meal scheme, Anganwadi scheme, maternal schemes etc. In more than 30 villages, around 300 farmers have been able to enhance their livelihood measures through our awareness generation camps.
